BROKEN FAMILY
By Noshima
In life we live just once but that to some of us just don’t realize the value of relationships. Money, luxurious life is all a part of materialistic happiness, whereas real happiness lies from within our ownselves. Especially in a family if unity, understanding, care, love, equal treatment to both children (in cases when there is a daughter and son) is not kept up creates a lot of havoc when fights between parents, hidden truth of the happenings around plays a huge effect. Even in some Indian families till date consider their own blood daughter’s as pain, nuisance and burden just because of a fact that as mother’s they never got to enjoy their childhood so why should the she? When greediness, rude approach, bossing over members take place, that’s where the family breaks leaving behind nothing but a lonely life.
This story that I have penned down is based on true happening on a family, which shook the earth from below my feet and took a long time to recover from the truth heard. Being superstitious and believing is not everybody’s cup of tea until and unless one has a strong will power and heart to sustain some facts which still exists in this modern time world.
Hope that this story touches your heart since I feel complete justice is done to it.
“Tring tring tring tring.” The phone was continuously ringing till “Hello”
“Hello! Appu amma here”
“Amma, from where did you get my number?”
“Beta Raheesha gave your number; see I know you are upset; sorry for everything. Can you come back?”
“Sorry amma, it’s too late. Bye.” Aparna cut the call and was crying. Her husband Sourabh asked her “Who called?”
“Amma”
“Darling talk to her; at least find out why she called?”
“No, I don’t want to find out. Sourabh you are saying this? Have you forgotten all the nonsense she’s done? It took so long for me to get stable”
“Baby I know and completely understand; she was wrong; but there is no harm in forgiving her.”
“NO WAYS. THAT BITCH SCREWED MY LIFE. SHE HAS NO PLACE IN MY HEART.” Wiping her tears, she pushed Sourabh away and locked herself in the room.
Back at Nair’s house
After Appu cut the call with anger Hema held the receiver and sighed with pain; “This is all because of my rude attitude and the mean things I have done which has today left me all alone with materialist assets; with no family members by my side during this last stage of blood cancer. For one maid whose there, does the house jobs, and looks after my needs.” She was thinking from within and kept the receiver
Just then
“Bow bow.” Zian Appu’s pet dog barked and came towards her. He was suffering from the missing love of his mistress Aparna; which was slowly killing him from inside. Being her best friend, he knew all about Appu’s suffering.
“What is it Zian? Why are you still here in spite of knowing that I always hated you?” she was weeping and fell on her knees.
It’s said that dogs are gifted with a special sense which makes them know the good and the bad of a person. Here, Zian knew it. He slowly approached towards Hema, kept both his paw on her shoulders, and embraced leaving Hema speechless. She then patted him and said; “Zian, sorry that I never loved you the way Appu and everyone else did. Today because of my mistake, you don’t have Appu next to you.” Hearing to her talks, he wanted to lay his head on her lap.
Just at that time while she was patting him, “Zian, baby sleep on your bed, Zian.” As she lifted his face, and called his name, she realized that he stopped breathing.
In his last moment, he waited for Appu.
Hema froze still seeing Zian. At that moment her eyes went on his collar where a piece of paper was attached. She began reading the letter which Appu had written.
